Last week, Ted Gibson, Regional Director, represented SRA Watchtower as he joined 140 Texas community bankers in Washington, D.C., for IBAT’s Annual Congressional Visit. The delegation met with 30 members of the Texas Congressional delegation, Federal Reserve Governor Michelle “Miki” Bowman, and other key policymakers to address pressing issues facing community banks.
A central theme of the discussions was the growing burden of regulatory overreach and its impact on local economies.
IBAT members called for support on streamlined regulation and lower taxation for community banks through things like Repeal of Sections 1071 and 1033 of the Dodd-Frank Act.
"The conversations we had during IBAT’s Congressional Visit underscored the urgent need for regulatory relief and fair competition in the financial sector. Hearing directly from lawmakers and industry leaders reinforced just how critical it is for community banks to have a voice in shaping policy. SRA Watchtower is proud to support this mission, ensuring financial institutions have the insights and tools needed to navigate today’s challenges." — Ted Gibson
